Wine, Penguins & More

Not much happening today as we continue the transit across the Drake Passage - about two hours ago, we crossed from the Atlantic Ocean into the Southern Ocean - south of 60° S latitude.  We will start to see random icebergs and the northern most Antartica islands sometime this evening, but will not be at the Antartica Peninsula until tomorrow morning - New Year's Eve - 12-31-23.  Do you see it "1-2-3-1-2-3"?

So, the pictures and commentary will get better starting tomorrow.

  1. Great you got the "comment" fixed!! What a way to celebrate the new year! Hope everyone is tolerating the waves. We would love to see some ship pictures if you could include them. Happy New Year to you and Lori and the "gang" Can't wait until you start seeing the wildlife and icebergs.
Hope you go into the "iceberg graveyard". The passage in is narrow, so if an iceberg gets in the current flowing in keeps them from drifting our. That's where we saw the first Leopard Seal lounging on an iceberg. Happy New Year!!

  2. Hope the passage stays manageable. Since we’ll be on that Scenic this summer for 40 days in the Arctic, I’ll be interested in what you think about the dining options, wine offerings, etc. Have fun!
